Nook & Pantry Cook Book

This project has been marinating and simmering in my creative pot for quite some time now. In fact, I had the idea before I even received the collection, began working on the sample, ran out of materials, reordered, continued to work on it and now need to reorder supplied if we're ever going to have a class. The elements have been very popular on their own and in combination, they're irristable...if I do say so myself.

This is the "Nook & Pantry" Recipe Book featuring elements from Basic Grey and Melissa Frances.

The book features sections for 8 recipes plus room for photos and general cooking tips.

This book will make a great holiday gift and is a great way to showcase your keepsake recipes. Or grab a group of friends, take the class and have a recipe swap. The possibilities are endless.

The class will be offered Thursday, November 19th & Tuesday December 1st. You can come any time to complete the project...please allow 3 hours to complete the book. The cost is $45...but if you book your class by tomorrow, November 13th, your cost is only $35. Now here is the rub...I'm having a hard time reordering some of the rub ons for this class...so I have 5 complete kits as pictured in the photos...after that we'll adapt the book and adjust the price if need be.

Pretty as a Princess

Wow, I haven't blogged in a while! Life has been crazy...decided to move in October, not the shop, just the Sonja and the Pepper. So I've been packing, cleaning, sorting through memories and getting settled in my new place. Pepper is finally adjusting.

My friend Alex is turning 3 today so yesterday I put together a Pretty as a Princess card for her. I thought I'd share it with you since it's nearly the only creative thing I've done in a month!

This is a Kaisercraft wood project Glimmer Misted with 3 different shades of pink. Then the pieces were laced together with some Bazzill Basics Ribbon.

I used Meri Meri Accents, Glittery Thickers and a Vintage Frame from Melissa Frances for decorations.

I couldn't resist adding just a bit more sparkle, one of the new Sparkle Burst Brads from Karen Foster.

Happy Birthday Alex!!!

And finally, we had a hauntingly good time at our Halloween Crop last Saturday!

Donice and Violet were dressed as Scrapbookers!

Linda embraced her dark side....

Michelle and Irene dazzled us all with their beautiful costumes and I donned the apparel my addiction...Starbucks...notice the IV drip bag?

Have a great time this weekend and if you're stopping by for the Shop Hop Bonus week I'll have my make n take & pins available as well as some goodies!

Something New for My Yahoo! Users

Being a small business owner I have to wear a lot of hats. Yesterday I tried on the techie hat for while and explored some things. I was able to add a feature to this blog which will let you see my blog posts on your My Yahoo! Page. What does that mean? It means you can read my blog posts on My Yahoo without having to visit another site.

Here's what it looks like on my own My Yahoo! page.

Want to add this feature to your My Yahoo page? Just click on the button to the right of this page...the one that has the + sign and the My Yahoo logo and follow the steps from there.

Now back to the creative hat....

Here's a layout featuring the new Halloween Papers from Best Creations and the Bling It rhinestone spider from Basic Grey...love it!

What Am I Supposed to Do With This?

One of my jobs is to answer the question what am I supposed to do with this? If I don't know...I figure it out. Here are some projects that I challenged myself with this week.

This accordion album features the new Glimmer Chip Tiles from Tattered Angels. They're a large format embossed chipboard (4"x7" I think). I glimmer misted them, punched holes on both sides and laced the pieces together with ribbon from American Crafts. These chips soak up Glimmer Mist wonderfully and can also be used in altered art projects like garlands and as mats or other embellishments on your scrapbook layout. Make sure you ink the surface of the chip tiles to bring out the embossed details!!!

Graphic 45 is known for their beautiful vintage inspired papers but leave alot of people stumped as to what to with them. "It's so beautiful, I don't want to cover it up" is the most common comment. So with this layout, I took the main paper from their Renaissance Faire collection and cut 3 strips that captured the essence of the paper. I cropped the paper, just like I would crop a photo. Then I created a layout with papers from the rest of the collection and used the cropped papers as the focal point. I also couldn't resist adding a locket from the Dove of the East Paris Vintage collection. Incidentally, the rest of the layout was created with the backside of papers from the Renaissance Faire collection...which are just as beautiful as the front~

Last but not least, I showed you a sneak peak last time of this layout featuring goodies from Melissa Frances. I challenged myself to find a way to use the vintage crepe paper that I've heard so much about. It's feaured on this layout as a gathered border (after a refresher course on the running stich from my mom) and in the rosettes on the left side. I want you to suspend reality for a moment and pretend that these roses will actually fit in your scrapbook...even if they are almost an inch high! Some of the flowers are also dusted with the vintage mica flakes from Melissa Frances. If you're wondering about the gorgeous paper, it's from her French Twist collection and it is fabulous!!!

If you're in town this Saturday, stop by the shop from 3-5pm for a raffle, secret sale and make n take...time to kick off the fall scrapbook season!
